Abducted by Sundays in Bed with...3.25.12

First of all, I have just come back from taking a week to fall off the face of the universe! I really want to get on the schedule of posting book reviews on every Monday and Wednesday, and so far I've been doing pretty well. However, this week I just completely dropped the ball! I don't even know what happened, it wasn't even like I was busy or anything!!!

I'll do better from now on, I promise!

Second of all, it is time for another "Sunday in bed with..."

"Sunday in bed" is a meme hosted by Kate aka MidnightBookGirl. It is where we post about what books we are currently reading while we relax in bed on these beautiful Sunday mornings, before getting up to face the rest of the world. I love this meme because not only is it hosted by my best friend, but because it gives us the chance to talk about the books we are currently reading and what we are thinking of them before we finish. Today is a perfect example, because this Sunday I am in bed with...

I wasn't able to take a picture of the book actually in my bed for two reasons; a- I'm listening to the audio version I downloaded from audible.com and b- because I lost my phone this week, and my phone also acts as my camera (not having my phone is making me want to pull my hair out! LITERALLY!!!).

But anyway, I'm not sure how I feel about this book so far.

I love the concept of the book being about a young girl suffering panic attacks and seeing a therapist in order to get help. It is kind of funny that I'm listening to it now, because I've talking a lot lately about my faith in therapy and how as soon as I get my insurance in order, I'm totally getting me some!

On one hand, I love all the lists that the main character makes and her love of words and definitions. But I think I would like the lists more if I was actually seeing them as opposed to having them read to me, and sometimes the words she defines are so obvious and common that I almost feel insulted that she is defining it to me.

The tone is funny, but not funny enough. I like Ruby, but I don't know yet if I like her enough to listen to the rest of the series. And I don't really like any of Ruby's friends because I think they are pretty bratty!

As of now, I am a third of the way through the book so I should be able to finish it this week. If I was rating it today I would probably only give it a three. We will just have to wait and see if the ending of the book is enough to raise my opinion of it.

That's all for now. I think it might be time to make a Starbucks run...

***update on this post...I FOUND MY PHONE!!! It was at the freaking restaurant!

I love audio books! Although I can only listen to them if I'm driving or walking, or doing some other activity. I can't just sit there in listen without doing other things. It would be weird to listen to, rather that see, a bunch of lists. But unless you really end up loving this book, I'm not likely to add it to my TBR pile anytime soon. I'm already feeling guilty enough whenever I add too it. I'm going to have to do a half-readathon soon. Too many books and too many other demands on my life. Thank God for audio books though, especially the good ones (seriously, listen to Soulless, it was so funny!).

I hope the book gets better for you!

I have a real hard time with audio books giving me a headache so I don't listen to them much, but I only get an occasional small headaches with the HP books so I'm really enjoying them. There is just something about his voice...

I think I would have liked Probability better if I hadn't just read Lola, but I still think you should read it. It's a really cute book!

I'm so glad you found your phone!

I have this book on my TBR list, and I've heard some good things about it. But I didn't know that the main character has panic attacks. This could either be a great book for me, or a horrible one. If it doesn't really go into detail about the panic attacks, or if they're different than the ones I suffer from, or if they're really not panic attacks at all (just someone overreacting and calling it a panic attack which happens OFTEN), then I should be able to read it. But if the panic attacks are in great detail and they're similar to mine, I might have to hold off on reading the book. You'll have to tell me more about it once you've finished it.

I remember really enjoying this book. This author wrote The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks, which is one of my favorite books!

And I'm so glad you found your phone!

I've been listening to ultraviolet on repeat and rocking out at stop lights.
