Abducted by 2013 Resolutions!

Every year I make a few resolutions of things I want to change moving forward. Some are funny some are completely ridiculous, and some I'm just not that motivated about from the beginning. But I always try to make at least one that I fully commit to.

This year, that resolution is to go the ENTIRE year without buying ANY books!

None!

Absolutely Zero!

Yes, I'm serious!

You have to understand, I have way too many books in my apartment that I have bought and never read. I mean waaaaaaaay too many books. I made an entire book tree this Christmas out of books I hadn't read yet and still had plenty off books left over.

Book Tree 2012

So, this is how it is going to work. I will be keeping my account with Audible.com (however I am debating reducing it from two credits a month to just one) so I will have access to new releases and of course the library system is at my full disposal. But I am not aloud to purchase any new physical books or ebooks for the entire year.
With ONE exception...

release date May 7th 2013

The only exception is if I go to a book signing. David Levithan has a book coming out this Spring and if he goes on a book tour anywhere near me I will be going!

In that case I will be allowed to buy books because that is the only way you get them signed.

Other than that, NO BOOKS!

I can do it guys! I know I can.

And on that note here are the books I purchased in my last book buying frenzy for 2012...

These are the books I bought with my Barnes and Noble gift card I got for Christmas!

Where Things Come Back by John Corey Whaley
A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle
House of Odd (graphic novel) by Dean Koontz
The End of Your Life Book Club by Will Schwalbe

And this is the last order of books I placed on Amazon.com that should be arriving January 4th.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline
The Disenchantments by Nina LaCour
The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making by Catherynne Valente

So tell me, what are your book resolutions for the year?

I think it's amazing that you plan on buying zero books and I am hear to support you! I can't do no books, but I've made a list of approved purchases for the first 6 months. If a book is not on the list, I can't buy it.

Good luck!

I... should make that goal, but there is no way that I am going to. Good luck! Also, Ready Player One and Where Things Come Back are both SO GOOD.

A Boook Buying Ban. That's a good idea. I get most of my books from the library, but this year I have been buying quite a few books.

Good luck! Having the exception for book signings is a great idea, though.

To be honest, I didn't buy all that many books this year, but that could be due to the fact I got so many at BEA and I do the arc tours. But I fully support your goal though!

I still think you're crazy. Smart, but crazy. There's no way I could do that! Any money I get in my hot little hands goes to books! But then again, I do have over 100 books on my shelves that I haven't read....

Regardless, I hope you do amazingly at this resolution! I will try to help you with it. We can go to the library lots this year--I need to do more of my Blind Reads feature, anyway!

Good luck!
